An explicit finite analytic method (EFA) for solving unsteady Navier-Stokes equations is developed based on the finite analytic method (FA). In this method, the convective transport equation ir solved with a local analytic solution based on the characteristic method in space and time variables for the inviscid portion, while the viscous diffusion and source term are approximated by finite differences. A second-order polynomial determined by the direction of velocity is adopted to approximate the initial condition in the local element. Numerical solutions obtained for the lid-driven cavity flow are compared with those obtained by the 19-point FA method.
