摘要
A flexible textile planar monopolar antenna with wideband performance from 4.6 to 7.5 GHz is presented for wearable applications. The antenna consists of a center-fed circular patch which is edge-shorted to the ground through three eyelets to create a magnetic current loop. Therefore the antenna exhibits a low profile and an omnidirectional radiation pattern resembling an electric monopole, which are desired characteristics for on-body communications. A wide impedance bandwidth of 46.5% is achieved by introducing a concentric ring slot to optimize the impedance. Experimental characterization on an antenna prototype validates the design.
