摘要：

Preoperative administration of methylprednisolone (MP) alleviates systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) by suppressing inflammatory cytokines that are spilled-over locally and by inducing Th2 cytokine superiority. At a dose of 10 mg/kg of MP, circulated lymphocyte functions were not affected, whereas MP administration suppressed reduced TNF-alpha production of whole blood and lymphopenia following surgery, suggesting that preoperative steroid administration may improve impaired immune system by modulating surgical stress.
