Development of self-explanation learning environment using the explanation refinement

The majority of us have the experience of teaching someone. We think that there is the experience that we understand an object better when instructing someone else about that. The act of explaining deepens our own understanding. The purpose of this research is the development of an educational system where explanation is utilized. We suggest a self explanation learning environment. Because a system gives advice for the explanation of the learner, the learner deepens her/his understanding. I present the refinement way of explanations in the system. We deal with explanation of exercises and explanation of problem solving. We selected exercises of geography. We support self explanation of exercises using a statistical table of geography for explanation refinement.
