摘要
Overproduction, surpluses and associated low commodity prices are currently major problems in US agriculture. Farm programs really offer no solution, but new crops and new uses could provide feasible alternatives to current production practices. In particular, co-firing forage grasses with coal to produce electricity, and using them as hardwood substitutes to produce pulp and paper may offer near term opportunities.
