PACE and hospice: two models of palliative care on the verge of collaboration

This article examines the managed long-term care program PACE (Program for All-inclusive Care of the Elderly) and traditional hospice as vehicles to provide quality palliative care. The missions, origins, and structures of the two programs are compared. Options for collaboration between these two models of care are explored. Local communities that share both models benefit significantly when these two models negotiate a successful collaboration.
