摘要
In recent years, the increased concern about the environment made the researchers focus on the development of natural fibers reinforced sustainable composites. In this regard, basalt fiber has drawn the attention of researchers in the recent past due to its cost-effective and exceptional properties compared to other natural fibers. Current study emphases on the mechanical characteristics of basalt fibre reinforced concrete with a volume fraction of 0-2%. The examined parameters are compressive, tensile strength and modulus of rupture. The inclusion of basalt fibres significantly enhances the modulus of rupture, whereas there is no significant effect on compressive strength. Compared with control concrete, the mechanical characteristics of concrete reinforced with 1.5% by volume of basalt fibre increase by 4.45%, 22% and 57% respectively. (C) 2020 Elsevier Ltd.
