A fingerprint minutiae matching approach based on vector triangle method and ridge

摘要
Fingerprint matching in one of the most important problems In an Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS). In general, we use minutia such as ridge ending and ridge bifurcation to represent a fingerprint and realize fingerprint matching through minutiae matching. In this paper, we propose a minutia matching method based on the vector triangle. This method Incorporates the Information of ridge Hues into the process of determining the reference points In two fingerprint images (the template and Input Images) and realizes the fingerprint matching in the polar coordinate system. Based on the experimental results, we observe that the method doesn't rely on the core points, and furthermore, it is Invariant to rotation and small amounts of scale changes.
