An empirical study on the relationship between economy growth and energy source consumption in Hebei province

摘要：
The relationship between economy growth and energy consumption in Hebei province was tested through co-integration analysis, Granger causality test, and error correct model by using the data of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and energy consumption from 1988 to 2008. The result shows that there is a co-integration relation between GDP and energy consumption in Hebei province. In addition, single-direction Granger causality relationship from economy growth to energy consumption is found, indicating that the economy growth in Hebei province is not dependent on the energy consumption. Some countermeasures and suggestions on the economy growth and energy saving are also proposed.
