摘要
We present the case of a 63 years old male patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus and severe multivessel coronary artery disease. Because the patient had diabetes he was treated by coronary artery bypass grafting, in spite of a Syntax score of 20. At one year follow up the patient presented with poor controlled diabetes and coronary bypass grafts failure treated by percutaneous coronary intervention with drug eluting stent. At next visit the patient was treated with drug eluting balloons for in stent restenosis. This case highlights the contribution of diabetes mellitus in coronary artery bypass grafts failure and in stent restenosis, the importance of a good control of glycemic status in patients of ischemic heart disease and utility of a multimodality approach to the treatment of coronary artery disease in diabetic patients.
