On the proposed reduction of red shifts of the Balmer-α line in dense plasmas by the dipole ionic-electronic shift

摘要
The recent version of the shift contribution to the hydrogen lines proposed by Oks (2002 J. Phys. B: At. Mol. Opt. Phys. 35 225 1) is shown to overestimate any dipole ionic-electronic shift effect. Moreover, it is not needed for the interpretation of experiments with the best diagnostics, and is inconsistent with recent full numerical simulations.
