Ultrasound-guided compression of a brachial artery pseudoaneurysm - A case report

The proliferation of invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures requiring arterial catheterization has led to a number of vascular complications. Recognized complications of brachial percutaneous techniques include arterial thrombosis, arteriovenous fistula, hematoma, and pseudoaneurysm. As with femoral artery complications, surgical repair is required for significant brachial artery pseudoaneurysms. Color-flow duplex ultrasound-guided compression has been described as a noninvasive and inexpensive treatment modality for femoral pseudoaneurysms. The authors describe a case of a brachial artery pseudoaneurysm successfully treated by ultrasound-guided compression.
