摘要：
A class of self-adaptive protocols is specified based on three main features of self-adaptive software: self-monitoring, dynamic dispatch and alternatives for protocol declaration and for behavior. A frame-based representation is introduced for communication protocols. As an example, a service discovery protocol is discussed from the point of view of self-adaptivity.
