Experimental investigation on the conversion of regime and the transition region of fluid flow in cylindrical bearings with finite length

摘要
This paper investigates experimentally the transition region from laminar to turbulent flow of fluid between concentric and eccentric rotating cylinders(test bearings) with finite length. The loss of stability of laminar flow, the occurence of vortex and their developing processes, and;he transition process of vortex to turbulence of fluid in test bearings under four clearance and four eccentricity ratios were observed, recorded and analyzed carefully by method of flow visualization. High speed photographic technique was employed to take motion pictures of the fluid flow processes in the test bearings. From careful study and analysis of experimental results, some valuable findings in transition region research of plain bearing under finite length concentric and eccentric conditions were found.
