Investigating value-based decision bias and mediation: Do you do as you think?

An experiment was conducted to assess the impact of an information system, designed to support multiple perspective considerations. The subjects used in the study were undergraduate students, ranged in age from 19 to 22 at a major Southwestern US university. Study of various value instruments indicates that the values can be assessed early in an individual's development. The findings of the research was that the value based actions can be manipulated through information systems design, mediating the effect of value bias in the value intensive applications. The research suggests that it is possible to change the behavior of decision makers for a specific decision domain through a system component. Consideration of multiple perspectives also allows an individual to perceive and process the minute informations.
