The growth of British fisheries during the industrial revolution

One consequence of the industrial revolution was to make fishermen much more effective and efficient. Nowhere was this change in situation more stark than in the North Sea, which the British trawler fleet came to dominate during the latter part of the nineteenth century. Much of modern fisheries policy can be traced to this period and this area.
