摘要
Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is known to be associated with sleep problems in a bidirectional manner. Main aim of this study is to assess the correlation of specific ADHD symptoms with specific symptoms of sleep disorders. The preliminary report presented here includes results of the analysis of 16 children (12 boys, 4 girls) aged between 5 and 13 years old. The questionnaires used were the Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ), the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and the Conners Parent Questionnaire. Children with ADHD were found to have problems with bedtime resistance, sleep anxiety, parasomnias, disordered breathing and daytime sleepiness. The subgroup of children with snoring appear to have significantly more difficulties in bedtime resistance, needing the parent in the room, sleep talking and sleepiness during the day compared to ADHD children without snoring. It seems that there is a need for evaluation of children presenting with symptoms of ADHD for primary sleep disorders, especially sleep disordered breathing, which seems to adversely affect many ADHD-related symptoms.
