Threaded-cell focusing system for high performance cameras applied on integral field spectrographs for large telescopes

This work presents the conceptual design of the Threaded-Cell Focusing System (TCFS). This system is intended to work with integral field spectroscopy (IFS) cameras usually to be use in large diameter telescopes. The TCFS will provide a smooth-controlled, repeatable, and reliable linear motion for the optical components. The TCFS design addresses two crucial issues: room and versatility. Being smaller than any standard positioning tables, it allows for a freer motion along the optical path. Furthermore, being applicable to other astronomical instruments, it reduces overall timing and cost.
