摘要
The paper presents an analytical model for a cellular mobile network. The network provides two service types: voice and data. The mobile terminals (MT) are assumed to have the capability of transmitting at different data rates. The call admission is always initiated with the highest data rate. If the network is incapable of accepting the call request, then the MT tries with lower data rate. The call is rejected if the network is incapable on providing the minimum data rate at which the MT can transmit. The reduced data rate connection can be speed up to higher data rate as soon as enough bandwidth is available. The same mechanism is used for the handling of arriving handover requests. The Markov model is based on birth-death processes and built using MOSEL language. Results show that the proposed mechanism for adaptive data connections decreases significantly the probability of new data call blocking and mainly the probability of handover failures.
