Light vector meson production at HERA

Recent results from HERA on exclusive vector meson production are reviewed. The diffractive reaction gamma*p --> Vp (V = rho(0), omega.phi) has been measured at photon-proton centre-of-mass energies 20 < W < 160 GeV, for photon virtualities Q(2) < 60 GeV2 and for \t\ up to 11 GeV2, where t is the square of the four-momentum transferred at the proton vertex. The gamma*p --> Vp cross section as a function of W, Q(2) and t is presented. The polarisation properties of the rho(0) produced at low and high Q(2) are discussed. The data are compared with perturbative QCD calculations.
