摘要
Cancer is a major life-threatening factor in human and animals. The purpose of this paper is to show that the growth of tumor cells is controlled by the effects of aflatoxin. The anti-tumor effects of aflatoxin B1 were evaluated on 4T1 breast cancer cell line by Annexin V-PE/7-AAD staining method, MTT assay, and colony formation assay. We used 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 mu g/ml of the toxin on the cell culture plates of tumor cells. Aflatoxin B1 showed the highest degree of cytotoxicity against 4T1 cells in 32 and 64 mu g/ml after 24 h and was quite dose-dependent. Also, the mechanism of cell death is apoptosis more in late phase than an early phase or necrosis. These data suggested a potential effectiveness of aflatoxin B1 for inducing cell death in breast cancer cells.
