Display of diagnostic information based on display intention

It is important for an information display system to select most suitable display form to make information receiver understand the displayed information easily and precisely. This paper proposes a information display technique based on display intention. In the technique, the extraction of display intentions in various situations and the correspondence among display intentions and display forms are important. This paper examines them based on a general procedure of fault diagnosis and some anomaly scenarios written by experts of oil refinery plants. Some of the information display technique are implemented to an intelligent software agent which generates diagnostic information based on structural, behavioral, and functional models of the plant and displays it to plant operators.
