摘要
This study presents how advanced wireless information and communication technologies can be used to monitor building interior works such as renovation and interior finishing. Although there is research that reveals the solutions for construction site monitoring using network cameras so that project stakeholders could obtain the monitoring results ubiquitously. the solutions cannot be applied for indoor monitoring purposes directly. One minor challenge is that in many cases, computer network is not available in an uncompleted or old building. Even though a network exists, the connection ports may not be located near to the positions of the cameras. While wireless networks could be a solution of the minor challenge, it leads to the major challenge: signal attenuation. Walls and ceilings affect data signal propagation, which decreases the effective bandwidth and stability. Since camera monitoring involves real-time image or motion picture transmission, insufficient bandwidth may cause delay and video frame-drop. This study investigates several wireless technologies such as WiFi, WiMax and HSDPA, and proposes network configurations that consist of various components including access points, antennas, repeaters, and so on. It is anticipated that this study could shed light on developing an interior works monitoring system and other indoor applications that require a fast and stable network.
