Simultaneous determination of hexenuronic acid and kappa number of high-yield kraft pulps using PAS-FTIR

摘要
A rapid scan photoacoustic Fourier transform infrared (PAS-FTIR) method was developed for the determination of Kappa number and hexeneuronic acid (hexA) content in kraft pulps. A partial-least-squares (PLS) model was established based on spectral data collected at different mirror velocities. The robustness of the model was statistically evaluated. The outcomes indicate that the PLS model can be used to predict Kappa number and hexA content in kraft pulps with a high degree of accuracy provided that the scan depth is sufficient to be representative of the samples.
