摘要
A freshwater diatom species, Aulacoseira subarctica, occurred dominantly from obviously laminated sections of varved sediment taken from Lake Suigetsu, central Japan. Sequential changes in diatom flora suggest only the species survived artificial environmental changes causing seawater invasion and strengthened stratification in water column since 17th century. A probable reason to explain its survival is that the diatom took resting strategy to resist anaerobic bottom water during unfavorable seasons. (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd and INQUA. All rights reserved.
