System Design, Implementation and Analysis Video Cache on Internet Service Provider

摘要
Nowadays the increasing of internet usage seems promising and interests new players to join the internet service provider (ISP) business. Not only the big scales, but also smaller even sub-districts scales of ISP don't want to miss a chance. This small ISP can't afford to make their own internet network, so they must rent an access networks to the internet. Not only cables, but they also have to pay for the bandwidth to other service providers. It's not cheap to rent a bandwidth for international connection, and international internet connection usage is higher than local's. This problem occurs because the content provider like video streaming comes from abroad. This highly international bandwidth usage rises the ISP budget to rent the connection. That's why users get high price per bandwidth ratio. This research was implemented and evaluated a video cache server on a district scale of ISP with wireless access connection from ISP to users, servers and routers which are evenly placed. There are some parameters like Hit, Miss, video streaming traffic statistics, video loading duration and Throughput will be gathered with this cache method. After that, the Hit result will he counted and analyzed, comparing the Throughput and Time efficiency before and after the implementation of the video cache server and video streaming traffic statistics. The result that is achieved from this research is the most effective bandwidth usage and low latency video cache server design. It was a smaller cache hit with an average of 2 Mbps which is lower than when a cache miss, it is approximately 12.4% lower.
