An information technology benchmarking study of logistics providers in Thailand

摘要
This paper presents research on Logistics Providers in Thailand. The purpose of this research is to provide insight on the current status of and use of Information Technology by Logistics Providers in Thailand to set an appropriate direction for country development. A Questionnaire developed by The National University of Singapore (NUS) survey was used to gather data about the current status of companies, organizational development strategies, barriers to the deployment IT in companies and IT use in firms from 500 managers of Logistics Providers in Thailand. The research concluded that Thailand has a high growth rate in the Logistics sector. Company development is focused on customer service, transportation and packaging and labeling. In addition, measurement of logistics services, focusing on accurate delivery time and collaborating relationship with customers are trends of Logistics Provider strategies to develop their service and organization. On the IT side, the results show that there is a moderately low level of IT use in firms, lack of IT personnel is cited as the major harrier to deployment of IT, and that fax and internet/ email are the most popular methods for exchange of information between firms.
