摘要
This study examined reverse knowledge transfer (RKT) by Chinese subsidiaries of Western Multinational Corporations (MNCs). Using the Ability-Willingness-Opportunity Framework, this paper presented a dynamic overview of reverse knowledge transfer. Specifically, through three project-level case studies in an American high-tech MNC and its Chinese subsidiary in Shanghai, it demonstrated how the combined impact of ability and willingness factors on RKT changed over a period of 15 years; and how their dynamics has been moderated by the industrial context of the MNC, namely, the changing market opportunities in China and globally.
