摘要
The text reflects the relation of the Czech modernist arts (theatre, dance) to the folk arts. The significant personalities were dancer Jarmila Kroschlova (Ausdruckstanz), theatrical director Emil Frantisek Burian, choreographer Saga Machov, and the linguist Petr Bogatyrev. Their artistic opinions were based on values which they found also in the folk arts. They formulated each by his/her own way the understanding of folk art/theatre/dance as a complex structure potentially able to address the modern people thanks to metaphorical way of expression, imaginative playfulness, the contact with the everyday life combined with the free fantasy, critical, burlesque view of the world. For the stage elaboration of the folk art they stated the necessity of the complex knowledge of the material and the context, understanding of the ethos of folk culture. On this base they as the modern artist can work with it freely according to the rules of arts.
