摘要：
Our goal is to illustrate some of the key theoretical and practical features of deep brain stimulation (DBS), emphasizing issues relevant to psychiatry. Following a brief overview, we discuss how DBS is delivered, putative mechanisms of action, and surgical and postoperative adverse events. We comment on strategies for target identification in psychiatric disorders and various logistical and ethical challenges in use of DBS.
