Research Motivation: the energy companies' effectiveness evaluation includes a set of tools, instruments and measures to provide the acquisition and relevant interpretation of the indicators set of the energy companies condition. The practice of financial and economic activities of the various companies determines a set of criteria parameters and ranges of values, assessing the effectiveness of the various industry-specific companies. It is necessary to determine the indicators composition to assess the energy companies' effectiveness following the fundamental restructuring of the energy sector. Research Methodology: the analysis database of the Russian generating companies financial and economic condition for 2013 and 2014 is used, also statistical methods are used. Main Findings: the set of indicators and their criteria values is developed; it allows an objective comparative analysis of the generating companies. Implications: the developed effectiveness indicators and criteria (reference) values of these indicators allow to make informed investment decisions.
