On Figuring Symbol and the Dimension of Religion-The Narrative Arc and Narrative Identity in Paul Ricoeur's Hermeneutics

The main task of the paper is to research through contemporary French philosopher Paul Ricoeur's Hermeneutics: the hermeneutic arc, especially through his ideas on text and discourse, and the integration of writing to present his thoughts on the hermeneutic arc. And then we will focus on how to use this beginning to proceed our studies on the possibility and contents of narrative arc. We believe that Ricoeur's narrative identity can provide narrative arc the cutting point of views for readers to understand the idea. If we provide from these ideas, our understanding in the Catholic mass as ceremony of faith, people may understand mass through the construction of this arc, in order to build certain relation with tension between us and Him. The final purpose of the paper is to understand that through this building of the relation, if we study this connection, we may or may not obtain the ability of figuring the symbol in religious faith. We believe that the manifestation of this ability may help us to construct and to understand the operation on this symbol, the result will be shown under the totality of the narrative arc. And at the same time the religious dimension in this study may also be present in this Hermeneutics.
