摘要
The study investigates the mechanical behaviour of hemp fibers reinforced HDPE composites. In order to enhance the interfacial adhesion between fibers and HDPE, the chemical treatment of fibers is carried out with the help of NaOH and Maleic Anhydride. On increasing hemp content in the HDPE matrix, a reduction in the tensile strength is reported, with maximum strength noticed at 20% content. However, with the augmentation in the content of hemp fibers from 10% to 30%, flexural strength of the fabricated composite is observed to get reduced. SEM examinations of the fracture surfaces reveal fiber pull-out and fiber delamination as primary failure mechanisms. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
