摘要
The adsorption-desorption characteristics of cadmium on soil components (humic acid, montmorillonite, goethite, kaolinite and calcareous clay) were investigated. Calcareous clay and humic acid sorbed by far the greatest amounts of cadmium though the adsorbents differed greatly in the ability to 'fix' cadmium irreversibly. It is considered that iron oxides and kaolinites contribute marginally to the sorption of cadmium by whole soils. The adsorption-desorption hysteresis was studied using two 'mechanistic' models. The order in which various adsorbents held cadmium irreversibly was: calcareous clay > montmorillonite > goethite > kaolinite > humic acid. An increase in pH increased the adsorption and 'fixation' of cadmium in montmorillonite.
