Mathematical literacy in linguistically and culturally heterogeneous classes

摘要
This contribution derives from an inquiry in the scope of of the general issue of diversity among student populations in German schools. Our research picks up current discourses which - as a follow up to large scale international studies like TIMSS, PISA or PIRLS - try to answer the question why immigrant minority students do not succeed better in the German school system. Our inquiry concentrates on the question whether and how the linguistic and cultural backgrounds of immigrant minority students influence their learning in German schools.
