Non-magnetic anisotropic-materials preparation by a strong magnetic field during the solidification of a hypereutectic Al-Cu alloy

摘要
The paper presents a method of anisotropic-materials preparation by controlling the solidification behavior and crystallographic texture of a hypereutectic Al-Cu alloy in virtue of a strong magnetic field up to 12 T. A novel theoretical analysis was conducted based on the experimental results. After strong-magnetic-field treatment, the non-magnetic Al(2)Cu phase is aligned forming a pseudo-single crystal and anisotropic properties are expected. With the aid of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD), the alignment and growth behavior of the non-magnetic Al(2)Cu phase was investigated and well discussed.
