In-situ synthesis of Al2O3 reinforced Ni-based composites

摘要
Dense and crack-free metal matrix composites consisting of a Ni-CO-Cr_Al alloy with an interpenetrating network of Al2O3 (see Figure) were fabricated by short distance infiltration. The volume fraction of phases (alumina and alloy) and composition of metal matrix can be controlled by the composition of the green compacts. The synthesized composites exhibit very good mechanical properties at room temperature.
