The East Asia collection of Berlin State Library

For more than 50 years the Berlin State Library has maintained special collections for East and Southeast Asia which are funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) under the project title SSG 6,25. The East Asia Division of the library, in cooperation with its Oriental Division, is responsible for collection development and user services. Over the course Of 50 years of subsidies from the DFG's "Scientific Library Services and Information Systems" this collection has become the largest of its kind in Europe and provides literature and services at the national level. Since 2002 it has expanded services into the area of electronic databases and journals from East Asia with the "Virtual Library East and Southeast Asia: CrossAsia." Furthermore, this division is responsible for the coordination of the European consortia of East Asian databases.
