摘要
Air-entraining vortices can lead to a significant reduction of discharge capacity or even to structural damages at weirs or intake structures. The paper deals with the appearance of air-entraining vortices evaluated at two case studies: air entraining vortices appearing in front of a weir and an intake structure were investigated in hydraulic model tests and CFD-simulations. Thereby, the opening height of the weir gate was varied and measures against air-entrainment in front of the intake structure were investigated respectively. The aim was to determine to what extent the appearance of air-entraining vortices can be assessed with CFD-simulations.
