REFLECTIONS ON SOUTHERNISM IN THE WORK OF GIUSEPPE GALASSO

By means of a little-used source, namely the several hundred recordings of public speeches by the Neapolitan historian, this article aims to highlight the development of Giuseppe Galasso's thoughts on the Italian south. In particular, his reflections and perspectives on this issue are described through an analysis of his first essays and a series of public speeches, underlining his dialectical relationship with the theories of Benedetto Croce and some of his teachers, like Ernesto Pontieri, and the influence of Giorgio La Malfa on his way of understanding politics.
