摘要：

This paper will provide an overview of key mechanical design aspects of induction motors applied on adjustable speed drives to optimize performance and insure reliability of the system. Rotating assembly resonances, bearing limitations, and lubrications are discussed and related to practical limitations. An application example and failure analysis from a Chevron production facility are presented to highlight design concerns and key areas of attention required to achieve reliable, and cost effective performance.
