ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL BENEFITS OF STANDARDS - THE NEW "ISO METHODOLOGY"

This paper presents a methodology developed in 2009 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in cooperation with Roland Berger Strategy Consultants to determine the benefits for organizations resulting from the use of standards. The starting point in this process is an understanding of the organizational (company) value chain and the impacts standards have on selected activities in business functions which constitute the value chain. The approach aims at collecting micro-data at the organizational level, but allows to extend the analysis to industry sectors and social areas as well.
