A dynamic signalling period allocation algorithm for wireless ATM MAC protocols in mixed traffic environments

摘要
In this paper, the dynamic signalling period allocation (DSPA) algorithm [1] for medium access control (MAC) protocols in wireless asynchronous transfer mode (W-ATM) is extended and applied to mixed traffic environments composed of various service classes. In particular, we investigate bandwidth utilization efficiency and quality of service (QoS) fulfillment by the DSPA algorithm. Simulation results indicate that the DSPA algorithm significantly increases the throughput of the system with the minimum control overhead. Moreover, QoS of each service class is well satisfied by proper and fair channel allocation to different service classes according to their requirements.
