Geotechnical exchange format language a base for a physical modelling data standard?

In the Netherlands a group of public and private organizations active in the geo-engineering has adopted a data exchange standard for cone penetration test reports. The essentials of this standard, the used GEF language and the work necessary to establish this standard are described. Authors conclude that adopting a standard for data obtained by physical modelling tests can be beneficial as well and propose an exchange standard. To adopt and utilize standards for data handling the formation of a new technical committee is suggested.
