Processes of quenching of 4,3He(21S, 21P) states in He+N2 mixture

摘要
The quenching process of He (2(1)S, 2(1)P) states by collisions with nitrogen molecules in a He+N-2 mixture at low pressure is experimentally investigated by a time-resolved spectroscopy method combined with pulse electron excitation. The influence of nitrogen atoms in quenching process is taken into account. The rate constants and corresponding cross sections for quenching He-4(2(1)S), He-4(2(1)P), He-3(2(1)S) and He-3(2(1)P) states by collisions with ground state N-2 molecules at T-g=600 K are: k(4He(2)(S))(1) = (2.7 +/- 0.1) x 10(-10) cm(3)s(,)(-1) k(4He(2)(P))(1) = (1.9 +/- 0.3) x 10(-9) cm(3)s(-1), k(3He(2)(S)(1)) = (2.8 +/- 0.1) x 10(-10) cm(3)s(-1), and k(3He(2)(P))(1) = (3.2 +/- 0.6) x 10(-9) cm(3)s(-1) and sigma(4He(2)(s))(1) = (14.2 +/- 0.5) x 10(-16) cm(2), sigma(4He(2)(P))(1) = (100 +/- 16) x 10(-16) cm(2), sigma(4He(2)(S))(1) = (12.7 +/- 0.5) X 10(-16) cm(2) and sigma(4He(2)(P))(1) = (145 +/- 27) X 10(-16) cm(2).
