Treatment with gonadotrophin releasing hormone agonist and growth hormone in non-growth hormone deficient children: Review and recommendations

We summarize the available final height data after treatment with gonadotrophin releasing hormone agonist (GnRHa) and growth hormone (GH) in non-GH deficient children. Hormonal data on the growth, axis during GnRHa treatment are not consistent. There is no convincing evidence that the addition of GH in children treated with GnRHa results in a clinically relevant improvement of final height. Based on these results, we suggest to add GH only in children with a combination of both decreased height velocity and proven disturbance of the GH axis.
