Study on the Evaluating of Regional S&T Innovation Ability with Structural Equation Modeling

The possible existed correlation and level differences between factors of the regional S&T innovation ability evaluating index system may be neglected. Structural equation modeling (SEM) can filter the errors, analyze the direct or indirect effects of variables at different levels at the same time, and identify the inherent structural relationship between variables. So it is possible and necessary to use SEM in evaluating the regional S&T innovation ability. It is very important to selecting the right indicators and making up a suitable model. One should also pay more attention to fixing the sample size, handling the missing data and testing the reliability and validity of the index system.
