Detailed seismological observations on the central shelf and continental slope of the northeastern Black Sea using sea-bottom stations

Regional seismological data and information obtained from short-term observations with sea-bottom seismographs were used to gain additional constraints on the seismicity in the central part of the shelf and continental slope off the Caucasian coast of the Black Sea, where the construction and exploitation of the Russia-Turkey submarine gas pipeline is planned. Observations with sea-bottom seismographs yielded evidence of elevated seismic activity of the upper crust within the Dzhubga and Vulan flexure-fracture zones, which were believed to have a low seismic activity on the basis of regional seismological data.
