Complete characterization of picosecond optical pulses in long-haul dispersion-managed transmission systems

摘要
We demonstrate the intensity and phase characterization of picosecond pulses in long-haul transmission systems by using the direct spectral phase detection method. This method is based on linear measurement of the spectral phase in the frequency domain. The measurement is polarization independent and almost immune to the drift of the arrival time of pulses. These advantages enable the precise measurement of the intensity waveform and the phase even after long-distance transmission of over 1000 km.
