摘要
This study was conducted among resident doctors and interns at the University College Hospital Oyo State, Nigeria. Data were collected on accidental exposures to blood and other body fluids at the workplace. Out of a total of 271 doctors interviewed, 118 (43.5%) had experienced at least one exposure to blood and other body fluid in the last 12 months prior to the survey with a total of 401 exposures in all. The highest exposure per person (4.7) was reported among residents in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. This study emphasizes the need for training of doctors in universal precautions and the provision of protective equipment at the workplace.
